Blazhe created the most amazing personalized trip for myself and five friends, which by far exceeded our expectations. From Albania to Montenegro and on to Croatia, our three day/three night driving trip was perfect - Blazhe served as our personal guide, and is a wealth of information; the city specific guides he arranged for us were also very knowledgeable; hotels and meals he arranged were perfect. And our driver, was terrific and worked so hard for us, and made traveling so easy.
I recommend using Blazhe for your future travels! I know I will!

Welcome! Planning your journey with Epic Travel Story - Macedonia Tour Guide means experiencing North Macedonia and the broader Balkans through a lens of storytelling, authentic local culture, and seamless comfort. Here is everything you need to know to prepare for your trip.
Entry Requirements & Visas
Passports: Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned date of departure.
Visas: Citizens of the EU, US, Canada, UK, Australia, and many other countries do not require a visa for short-term tourist stays up to 90 days in North Macedonia. If your multi-day tour extends into neighboring Balkan countries (like Kosovo, Albania, or Greece), passport validity and individual country entry rules apply.
Currency & Payments
Local Currency: Macedonian Denar (MKD).
Cash vs. Cards: Major hotels, restaurants, and shops in larger cities accept credit cards. However, having some local cash is essential for traditional village shops, small family-run wineries, roadside markets, and tipping.
Tipping: Gratuities for your driver-guide are entirely optional and appreciated based on exceptional service, typically handled in cash at the end of the tour.
Weather & What to Pack
Climate: North Macedonia features a diverse climate ranging from Mediterranean influences in the south (Ohrid/Dojran) to continental mountain climates in regions like Mavrovo, Galičica, and Shar Planina.
Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes or light hiking sneakers are a must, as exploring historical sites, cobblestone old towns (like Ohrid or Prizren), and nature trails involves uneven terrain.
Layers: Weather can shift between valleys and mountain passes. Dressing in breathable layers is always recommended, along with a light jacket or windbreaker for cooler evenings.
Health & Safety
Medical Care: Tap water is generally safe in major towns, but bottled water is widely available. Pharmacies (аптека) are easy to find in urban centers.
Insurance: We strongly recommend securing comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip interruptions, and personal belongings prior to your arrival.
